About Project Verdant

The building sector remains one of the largest contributors to GHG emissions, largely through its energy use, which accounts for about one third of global energy.
The 2022 Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction, released at COP27, found that the building sector accounted for over 34% of energy demand and around 37% of energy and process-related CO2 emissions in 2021. Even so, the sector has a substantial potential for climate change mitigation.
Project Verdant envisions a smart green community prioritising climate-efficient methods and models for constructing residential and commercial projects in Nigeria. Acting as a scaled response to mitigating climate change, the project will significantly support Nigeria’s attainment of its climate commitments by 2060.
